What do you get when you take the world's most famed tattoo artist and co-mingle his creative flow with the excellence of a shoe manufacturer name Nike? You get a party - and a shoe - that is of no compare. The launch party for Mr. Cartoon's new shoe design with Nike was not only a blast, but also a treat to those who have followed Cartoon's career. The event was a celebration of his much deserved success, as well as a moment of pride for all those who have supported and sported his ink.
Located in Venice, California, the party played home to hundreds of invited guests, as well as a laboratory of art, which was dedicated to different facets of Cartoon's talent. Outside of the party, a display of the finest lowriders was gracefully displayed and lit. All vehicles were from Lifestyle Car Club, one of the most famed car clubs in the world. From the candy flakes to the sparkle of the "Ds," these cars were there in support of the party and definitely an added bonus.
In one room, guests were treated to a trailer of Cartoon's new documentary called Ink, while the opposite end of the room had on display three very limited edition Nikes, of which two were designed by Toon himself. Up in the entry way of the beach house was the true shocker, which came by way of a fully customized ice cream truck built by Cartoon. The vehicle took more than 10 years to create and sported murals from front to back.
Just as Nike has created its very own cult following, Cartoon has done much the same with his OG style of tattooing. It was his art which gave him a name, his name which gave him a brand and, after years of giving up ink, he is finally getting some of his own in the form of media, worldwide recognition and his soon to be released documentary.
