A 200SX that's pure pleasure on every level. Drive this "Yellow Spike" home and it becomes obvious where the name came from; speed, looks and a sound system that sounds as good as it looks. Felix Amante's '95 Nissan 200SX SE-R combines all of the elements that make a car fun to own and even more fun to drive. Several years, a grip of money and this is what Felix ended up with, pure pleasure on every level.
Take for instance the engine, fully built by Kevin and Kennedy at Premier Motorsports of La Habra, California. The '98 Nissan engine was strong enough for most stoplight confrontations, but add a 75-shot of NOS thanks to a Nitrous Express System and you have a downright wicked ride. Take two aspirin and call the doctor in the morning, complaining about the neck pain.
An SR-29 limited slip differential handles all of the power and makes sure that the power gets to the right place. Controlling all of the movements of the chassis is done by the Tokico Shocks and Ground Control coil-overs. Johnny Lam of Be La Ray Motorsports of Riverside, California, installed and tweaked the package to perfection. Putting the car in motion would be a set of Racing Hart T5s, a pair of 18x8s up front and 18x9.5 in the rear. Nitto tires provide the grip.
Slip inside of the car and become drunk with aural and visual stimulation as you crank up the sound system and slip in your favorite DVD. The Matrix never sounded or looked so good playing on the Alpine CVA-1005 monitor, and that new Jay Z CD is bangin' with some newfound authority. An Alpine crossover sends the signals to their proper destination and a host of Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers and amps make the system sing loud and proud. Donald at Meno's Stereos in Moreno Valley, California, put it all together and made it happen. To hold you firmly in place during those canyon runs is a set of Cerullo seats covered in red and yellow vinyl, as installed by Joe Sole of Kustom Fit Upholstery in Moreno Valley. Steering with a Momo F1 steering wheel and shifting via a Momo Competition shifter and a matching set of pedals makes your heel-toe action quicker and much more comfortable. Digidine gauges keep you abreast of the engine's condition a good thing to do when you're hard-charging down the road.
Everyone loves a built body and this ride has all of the right curves. JT Autobody of Rosemead, California, handled all of the mods with Tony Yip working his hands, grinder and paint gun. The Kids at JT fabbed up a host of parts, like front air dams, wide body kit and rear wing for a one-off 200SX. A hood scoop was add for a dose of fresh air to the motor and an additional aluminum wing to the bottom of the hatch. The combination gives the car a whole new fresh look and sets it apart from the competition. Ferrari Yellow was shot on the entire car and red, white and blue pearls were added for that creamy look. Add graphics and stir well and you have a really unique rolling drink, spiked to perfection.
