Individuality. It's who we are and why we build our cars the way we do. We want to have a little bit of our personality come through to seperate our car from everyone else's.
So just how do you take a mass-produced vehicle and seperate it from all of the other ones on the road? Bottom line? It's the little details that make your ride stand out from the others. That's what having options is all about.
There's no doubt about it, we love to have options. Even if we never use them, it's cool to be able to alter the look or feel of something depending on our mood Think about how many time your girl changes her clothes before going out on a date.
Now take your Euro for example. Sure you can go and spend a bazillion bucks on a cool paint job, but what if you get tired of the color or design? You could go out and repaint it, but that tales too long and costs WAY too much.
The folks at Stockdale Technology have come up with some really cool domed carbon fiber stick on flame kits. Now these aren't those cheesy "carbon-look" things you see at the swap meet, this is real, hard-core .032-.050 thick domed carbon fiber backed with a 3M outdoor adhesive that you can mount on just about anything.
Not only that, the Carbon Tech flame kits come with a UV inhibitor a well as a 6 year guarantee against fading and yellowing. Pretty sweet, huh? When was the last time you saw an accessory company do something like that?
The cool thing about these hot flames is they are easy to put on and easy to remove. That way, you can the look of your bad ass Euro as often as you change your mind.
They come in a wide variety of colors and styles, so you can really personalize your car, bike, truck ... whatever! Pretty much anything that has a flat surface can be tricked out with their flame kits. When you think about it, the possibilities are endless.
But enough talking, let's see just how easy it is to add some Stockdale Technology domed carbon fiber flames to the side window of a VW New Beetle.
Okay, so it's a tinted side... Okay, so it's a tinted side window of a New Beetle. It looks good, but wait 'till you see it in a few minutes! |
Stockdale Technology's Carbon... Stockdale Technology's Carbon Tech carbon fiber flame kit comes complete with everything you need to hook up your ride. This is really going to spruce up the look of that Beetle window. |
First thing you need to do... First thing you need to do is wipe off all the dirt and greasy fingerprints from all the looky-loos. The Flames are backed with a 3M outdoor adhesive, like you'd find on body kits. We decided to use Mother's Glass Cleaner. |
Before you get all crazy and... Before you get all crazy and start sticking the flames on, take a moment and lay them out. Keep them on the paper backing and tape them to the window to find just the right place for them. |
Once you've got the flames... Once you've got the flames where you want them, peel the paper backing off the flame and stick it to the window. |
Continue peeling the paper... Continue peeling the paper back and sticking the flames to the window. Once the flame is applied, go over and make sure the entire flame makes contact with the glass. |
If you think you made a mistake,... If you think you made a mistake, don't freak out. Just break out the hair dryer, heat up the flame and peel it back and relocate it wher it needs to be. If you get tired of it in 5 months, use this method to remove the flames all together. |
When it's all in place, give... When it's all in place, give it a once over with a windw cleaner to remove any smudges or fingerprints and BAM! Your ride loks so hot it's cool. |
