There used to be an old saying that went, "It's so easy, even a girl could do it." Well, with the current level of involvement in the import scene from females, using that saying could possibly get your butt kicked! Some of these girls have better cars than the guys, and if you follow the racing scene you'll notice that there's more than a couple of babes out on the track behind the wheel.
Yep, more and more girls are getting involved in the sport. And it's a good thing, too. Not only does it give us guys something to look at, it also keeps us humble. To that end, we are more than excited to bring you this month's cool interior modification... installed by the young lady who actually owns the car.
The lovely Melissa will be installing the Alkaplus brushed aluminum-style interior trim on her 2000 Volkswagen Golf. The install is pretty easy and straightforward. And the kit comes complete with everything that you need to do the job in about an hour. The instructions are detailed, and completely easy to follow. But enough chit chat, let's get right into the thick of it and see how Melissa installs the kit.
As you can see, the Alkaplus brushed aluminum-style kit comes complete with 26 pieces... enough to trick out the whole interior of your VW Golf. The instructions are detailed, so nothing's left to chance.

The kit even comes with a couple of alcohol wipes to remove any oils, grease and/or dirt from the dash where the trim will be installed.

In fact, that's the first thing you need to do. Wipe down the area where the trim will be applied. Hang on to that pad, because it's going to have to last you awhile.

Next, find the appropriate piece of trim and start to peel the backing, leaving a "tail" that you will pull as the trim is applied.
|
 |
While you are pressing the exposed adhesive, pull the tail and continue until the piece is seated. Then press it firmly in place to make sure that it has made contact all the way around. Presto! You're done.

The folks at Alkaplus have also included some adhesive for some of those dash pieces that have tighter curves where some extra holding power might be needed. All you need do is apply a small amount to the curve where the trim will be applied, let it dry and install the piece as you would the others.

Once it's all installed, the dash kit really adds a distinctive touch to the interior of the Golf.
